The Bridge

Just finished watching 'The Bridge. ' It's poignant, disturbing, strangely heartwarming and definitly hard to watch.

You get to know these people through their family testimonials. You sympathize and in my case even empathize with them. You want to help but at the same time you know that the leap off the bridge is looming and you know you will see it, it will be shoved in your face as a period to the end of the sentence no matter what was said by anyone.

Watch this film, take what you will from it but I know I'll never see the Golden Gate Bridge on a postcard or on TV, and not think of the troubled souls who plunge from it as a final end to whatever has been slowly killing them already.

Big Brother 8

Finally we have a list of "contestants" for this years Big Brother, my favorite reality show. There appears to be some sort of 'enemy' twist this year, I guess we will wait and see.... And the house kinda has an Alice in wonderland feel to it. Anyway, here is this years crop of douchbags:

Happy Birthday

My blog is now over a year old.

648 posts of nothing even a small amount important.... And more to come.

Stuff

-I've been racking my brain about what to write about Benoit. It's an internal dialogue of "He's someone I really admire" and "He's a piece of shit who did the unspeakable." The media has certainly latched on to the whole steroid deal but that is to be expected as it makes a good story. As more details come out it gets more bizarre and upsetting. I'm tired of hearing about it and I'm tired of people asking me about it but I don't think the 'story' is going to go away any time soon.

-So all of a sudden Billy Corgan is public enemy number 1 in the music scene. The Pumpkins will be releasing 4 different versions of Zeitgeist, one for Target, one for Best Buy, one for iTunes and one for everybody else. Apparently each one will have an exclusive track. I've been reading articles and people are saying Corgan is an asshole and he's fleecing his fans..... When did this become such a horrible thing? First off, it may be a record company thing and not a band thing and second, no one says you gotta buy them all!! Lighten up people.

-I've been hearing the new Bad Religion song on the radio here and there and it's starting to grow on me.

-Chantal got ahold of screener passes for Die Hard 4 and we went to see it Tuesday night and it's awesome. I was worried it would suck and not live up to the franchise but it's really good and the Apple computer dude was really good as well.

The Weekend

A busy weekend as usual....

Saturday we had Jonnys last T Ball tournament, and then the PWA show. T Ball was fun as usual and he really enjoys it. PWA... well it started off ok, and ended up incredibly painfully. That's all I'll say.

Sunday we had to stop by Chantals work for a bit which was good as it gave me time to eat my tasty Tim Hortons sandwich (yes, I hear you Chris...) and then we headed to fucking Sephora.... The happiest place on earth... if you have a uterus. Chantal bought some stuff and I had a fit about the aformentioned Dirt cologne.

After that we headed to Hudsons for some Nachos and wings and I had a tasty pint of Canadian, then stopped at Chantals moms to do something (I don't remember why we went there....) After that we popped by Dustins for the Vengeance ppv which totally licked balls. No Benoit sucked and kinda killed everyones mood.

For a nightcap we stopped at The Cheesecake Cafe for a snack. Chantal ordered some fucked up spicy weird shit and I forgot and stole a baby corn and preceeded to die. Fucking horrible, how do people eat that. Boris the waiter (yeah, that's right) thought it was funny, even though he doesn't know the differance between chicken and beef.

Dirt?

We saw this at Sephora (AKA Heaven for women) yesterday and I can't wrap my head around it. Here's the writeup:

DIRT COLOGNE SPRAY
Invoke memories of endless summer days playing outside in the dirt and mud. This cologne was created to smell exactly like the dirt from fields surrounding a Pennsylvania family farm.
Demeter creates scents that are drawn from memories to transport a person back to a special place or time.

Everyone has a personal library of meaningful smells. The memories they trigger are somehow more intense than those we dredge up by conscious effort. It's as if smell provides a shortcut to our deepest memories and brings them back complete with the emotions and sensations we felt at the time.

No no NO! It doesn't "transport a person back to a special place or time," It smells like fucking DIRT!! Why would I wanna smell like dirt!!!???

Lightening

Last night there was a lightening storm, I tried to catch some of it with my camera. (Ignore the Stern in the background.)

Thanks Shigs!

Because Shigs is the man, I got a bunch of new music I am going through.

What I am digging and have put on my ipod (so far):

The Decemberists
Ima Robot
Boards of Canada
PB & J
LCD Soundsystem.

Really!?

"Legally Blond: The Musical?" Sweet Jesus who's idea was that?

Camping Discoveries

The Bridge

They talked about this movie on Stern this morning and it has piqued my interested. Trying to track down a copy.

People suffer largely unnoticed while the rest of the world goes about its business. This is a documentary exploration of the mythic beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge, the most popular suicide destination in the world, and those drawn by its call. Steel and his crew filmed the bridge during daylight hours from two separate locations for all of 2004, recording most of the two dozen deaths in that year (and preventing several others). They also taped interviews with friends, families and witnesses, who recount in sorrowful detail stories of struggles with depression, substance abuse and mental illness. Raises questions about suicide, mental illness and civic responsibility as well as the filmmaker's relationship to his fraught and complicated material.

BBB's Notebook: WWE Raw 06/19/07

-My cable froze up so I missed the first little bit but I'm sure it sucked.

-This Vince thing is gonna make me nuts.... Its so terrible.

-London and Kendrick on Raw is pretty sweet.

-London, Kendrick, Haas and Benjamin was good. Like to see them get 20 minutes on a ppv, it could be great.

-A 3 hour Raw? The federal investigation? Yeesh....

-Seeing the Sandman on Raw makes me sad.

-I thought the Mr. McMahon memerobilia sale was funny until I saw the auctions.wwe.com logo.

-Sheik Show? I like it.

-That limo driver and his toupe laid it on a little thick. Fuck this is brutal.

-I haven't really seen a lot of this Kennedy being that I don't catch Smackdown. Lotta hype to live up to.

-Holy fuck, that's Jillian Halls gimmick?

-Steph's looking a little chunkified, like she just had a baby or something....

-Ok, Stephs promo has just hit rock bottom. Fuck, this is so lame and terrible I wanna puke blood.

A Long Overdue Update

What's new....

Camping was good but we had to cut it short due to rain. When it wasn't raining (and even when it was) it was a lot of fun and the kids seemed to enjoy it. And I was a lot warmer during then night then I was last May.
So we went home a day early and just chilled and watched some movies including Back to the Future 2 and Master of Disguise. Now I have been told I am nuts, but BTF 2 was a piece of shit. All it was was part 1 with an extra Michael J Fox running around and no new Crispin Glover. Master of Disguise was surprisingly good, I could watch that Turtle scene all day.
Fathers day we went out for breakfast and played some cards with Mel and Benny. I made the mistake of staying up until 1 AM watching the TNA ppv that night. It was about what you would expect from a TNA ppv. Stuff that didn't make sense, and stuff that was confusing. However, LAX vs. Low KI and Rhino was surprisingly good. I will try to put it up on the video blog so you can have a look. Does anyone even watch the shit I put up? Let me know.
Since I moved departments, I hate my jon and I sense big changes coming to my store. Some good and some really shitty.

Flames to name Keenan as head coach

Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie
6/14/2007 12:14:23 PM

Following the formalities of signing a multi-year contract, Mike Keenan and the Calgary Flames will officially announce his hiring as head coach at the Pengrowth Saddledome at a news conference at 3:30 pm et today.

Jim Playflair will remain on as an assistant to Keenan, while further discussions with Rich Preston, Wayne Fleming and Rob Cookson are expected to take place on Friday.
Keenan's hiring comes as a huge surprise to many, but a quick trip down memory lane shows a long history with the Sutter family.

Keenan and Flames general manager Darryl Sutter worked together in Chicago and helped lead the Blackhawks to the 1992 Stanley Cup Final.

Keenan hired Brian Sutter as his assistant coach in 1991 as part of his Canada Cup staff.
Duane and Brent Sutter both played for Mike Keenan in Chicago, while twins, Ron and Rich Sutter also have playing experience with Keenan as their head coach.

As one NHL executive puts it, "Keenan and the Sutters are like thinkers..it makes perfect sense."

The Flames went 43-25-10, finishing 8th in the Western Conference last season under Playfair. They lost to the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs.

Keenan's last job in the NHL was with the Florida Panthers where he was replaced by Jacques Martin just prior to the 2006-07 season. The Panthers were Keenan's seventh NHL team. He began his NHL career as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1984. He captured the Jack Adams trophy awarded to the league's top coach in 1985 while leading the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Final.

In 1993-94, he was hired as head coach of New York Rangers and led the franchise to its first Stanley Cup win since 1940. Keenan also served as head coach and GM as the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, and Boston Bruins.

Keenan began his coaching career with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League.
Iron Mike has been behind the bench for 1,014 games with 569 wins, 447 losses, 140 ties and 20 overtime losses.

Campamania 2

Going camping around Trochu this weekend, I'm pretty excited. It will be very nice to get away from everything and everyone for a while. If anything exciting happens I will report it via the blackberry but I may be wrong in this but the point of camping is for nothing exciting to happen. Play with the kids and stuff by day and beers around the fire at night.

-Lynn and Rood was ok.

-Traci Brooks vs. Gail Kim? I like.

-I really don't like way they are booking Sting.

-Holy fuck, "The Guru" Sonjay Dutt....

-Well, it wasn't a workrate spectacular, but enjoyable nonetheless.

-Whats with the picture of Big Bird during the Christian/Tomko confrontation?

-Storm and Harris was a fun good brawl, but the non finish sucked.

BBB's Notebook: WWE The Ladder Match Disc 1

-Good to hear Ed Whalen's voice on Roberts vs. Ritter.

-I love the "spotters" in the Stampede match.

-Bret and Shawn had great psychology. Awesome build.

-Razor and Shawn from Summerslam was good, but not as good as WM X.

-Wow, The Chris Warren band suck.

-I didn't really remember too much about The Rock and HHH's ladder match from Summerslam but it was quite good.

-All the Hardys/E and C/Dudleys stuff is good. Always fun to watch it again.

-The WCW match was fun, better then I remember. Too bad I had to listen to Mark Madden.

-Benoit and Jericho from the Rumble was quite good as well.

-Good booking for Edge and Cena, only thing they could really do.

-Holy fuck, the "Superstar-ometer random generator" is fucking hilarious... Khali to Smackdown.

-Vince appreciation night, this could go either way....

-Holy shit, Jesse's looking a little long in the tooth, and yes.... We know you were a Navy Seal....

-Punk beats Carlito, so on their way to ECW is......The Boogeyman. Fuck.

-Oh Snoop, you are so gangsta.

-Foley wants in on the Vengeance open challenge-thingy.

-Balls Mahoney vs. Umaga..... Gee, I wonder who's going to win....

-Yup, that was quick. Raw drafts...... King Booker.

-Lashley beats Benoit. On the way to ECW is...... Chris Benoit. That's cool. ECW hasn't lost anyone, yet.

-Fuck, its not like we all saw Mae and Moolah coming a mile away. Quite a sad segment.

-Jack Korpela looks like Martin Short.

-The fucking Iron Sheik is greatness.

-MVP over Santino. Smackdown drafts......Torrie Wilson. BFD.

-Nice job Bret.

-Snitsky destroys The Miz, however ref reverses the decision due to Snitsky being a jerk off. Smackdown gets...... Chris Masters. Whopdee doo.

-Poor Heenan looks worse every day.

-Always nice to see Piper.

-Candace Michelle beats Kristal, Raws next pick is...... Bobby Lashley. But he's the ECW champ! Whatever will this mean? Out comes Coach..... He says Vince says Lashley can't be ECW champ. -Fuck, Captain Lou is insane.

2. Kennedy.

-This is the 733rd Raw. Wow.

-Ok, what the fuck.....

The Many Faces of Bobby Lashley

Lashley always remains tranquil despite the madness that surrounds him..

Lashley is jacked up!!

The Draft

Tonight is the big 3 hour draft on Raw. Haven't looked forward to a Raw like this in quite some time. I have no idea what to expect and I want to see who will end up on ECW as that is my favorite brand. I think they can say goodbye to Punk and Burke and probably Thorn.

It's a Raw so big, it will start one hour early at 8/7 CT on the USA Network.

Monday night, on a special three-hour edition of Raw, the entire WWE roster will converge in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., for the fourth-ever WWE Draft. The show will begin with a match between old rivals WWE Champion John Cena and World Heavyweight Champion Edge. The battle between Cena and Edge will set the tone for the night. Each match on Raw will be interpromotional and will affect the Draft.

In professional sports, draft day is always special for a young athlete. No one knows where they will be going as they get their official start in the professional ranks.

On Monday, the Superstars of WWE will all be nervous for a very similar reason. Until their name is (or isn't) called, none of the Superstars will know if the brand they currently call home will still be theirs come Tuesday morning. Whose names will be called at the podium to bring their talent to a new brand?

The three-hour special edition of Raw will be made even more special, as it will also be “Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night,” ordered by the WWE Chairman of the Board himself.
WWE.com has learned that several celebrities, Legends and WWE Hall of Famers, including "
Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Bret Hart, will be offering their comments of appreciation for the boss. Read more on who will be appearing...

What other festivities will take place to honor the former ECW World Champion? And will McMahon’s mental state be more stable than it was last week, as he wreaked havoc in the locker room as a maniacal matchmaker?

Monday will also be uncertain for the new World Tag Team Champions, Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, who beat a weakened Matt & Jeff Hardy for their titles last week. Will the draft split the pair just as they reach the pinnacle of their profession?

Don’t miss all the action on the special three-hour WWE Draft edition of Raw, Monday night at a special time, 8/7 CT on USA Network.

Oh yeah....

That John McLane is a bad motherfucker.

BBB's Notebook: TNA Impact 05/31/07

-They are really pushing this TNA mobile deal, makes sense for them to do so.

-Cornette is fucking gold. Love the tennis rackets on the shelf in his office.

-Well, so much for Rhino and Daniels.

-Konnan said "Dudley Brothers."

-If Hector Guerrero is a member of the TNA spanish broadcast team, why is he sitting in the crowd?

-Oh Joe and Kurt, can't you just get along.....

-The X Division title seems to be almost forgotten these days.

-Kaz and Sabin was quite good.

-The new Sonjay Dutt? Oh lord.....

-Tomko and Styles was weak and overbooked.

Live Free...

I just saw the commercial trailer for Live Free or Die Hard, and now I wanna watch Die Hard. So I shall, as soon as The Colbert Report is over.

Karaoke Photography

Umm yeah....
The whole motley crew.....
What about me, what about...
Why can't I have a normal picture of Phil?

More unwanted teenage pregnancy.

Karaoke Films....

Dalby's got back... sideways...

The girls rock some ABBA.

Kyle is a retard.

This isn't from karaoke, but it continues to prove the "Kyle is a retard" theory.

Saturday

Karaoke was fun last night. Piling was quite lit by the end of the night, his woman had to hold him up. What About Ivan is quite loud, Dalby is a good man and Dustin is a solid individual. Chantal had quite a few pops and let loose on some Papa Don't Preach. Phil is a fucker as usual. Photography to come.

Today is the big dance recital. Not sure what to expect but it should be fun. Ribs tonight, fucking awesome.

Shawns robot suit he made is killer. I have to pretend to be mad for doing it on "compnay time" but its pretty fucking cool"

BBB's Notebook: ECW 06/05/07

-Whats with Vince in the rocking chair? I didn't see Raw but I assume its something stupid.

-Lashley goes over 3 Originals. I am so very pleased. I think the clock is ticking on Tommy, Balls and Sandmans contracts.

-Kevin Thorn and Stevie Richards put together a really solid match. Original Sin is a sick-looking move.

-The Major Brothers vs. Burke and Cor Von was good as well.

-Punk and Striker was ok, I'm really not sold on Striker.

BBB's Notebook: ECW 05/29/07

-I probably should have watched this before the ppv.

-Good ol' Tommy, always there to defend ECW.

-Punk and Burke was quite good.

-The Vince/Lashley split screen is fucking brutal.

-Extreme Expose makes me miss Mike Knox. Where the hell is he anyway, Grizz?

-Dreamer and Orton was better then I expected.

BBB's Notebook: WWE One Night Stand 2007

-I watched RVD and Randy Orton at work with Shigs and Dustin and it filled us with giggles. RVD plays the concussion so well including his bail off the top rope. Good times.

-A 6 man table match with only one fall? Really?

-Striker sold the bulldog lawn-dart style.

-The ECW 6-man was fun. I don't like Monty Brown but he looked good tonight.

-Ad for the draft. Knowing my luck all the ECW originals will be moved to Raw before the ECW show here next month.

-A lot of fuckin' bulldogs on this ppv...

-The ladder match appears to be a bit of a clusterfuck.

-Shelton had a rough night.

-Who the fuck is this twerp with Khali?

-What the fuck is Dykstra wearing?

-Wow, Mark Henry and Kane was a piece of shit. I'm shocked.

-Lashley totally fucking ate it at the begginning of his match with Vince!!

-Lashley wins! Praise be to Allah!

-Marias promo was fucking hilarious!

-A pudding match. Need I say more?

-The cage match didn't really do much for me. I find Batista very bland.

-Cena and Khali was blah, to be expected.

Day Off Friday

Ok, here's the plan for today.... Watch One Night Stand, 2 weeks worth of ECW and 2 weeks worth of TNA Impact while I attempt to clean up my place a bit, do dishes and laundry.

Ned makes me laugh.

EDIT: Scratch Laundry. The "put money on your card" machine gimmick is out of order.

Question....

.....For Chris or Fleets or Moks or whoever:

Are Satelite Party any good? I like the single.

Big Brother 8 Rumors

Apparantly, the cast is set and the new season starts in a month. There have been plenty of rumors going around saying that the direction of the show will be a vast change from season's past, though we've heard that pretty much prior to every season. If the rumor that the cast is pitting past high school bullies against those they bullied while in school.

BBB's Notebook: TNA iMPACT! 05/24/07

-The Steiner Brothers/Team 3D promo off the top was really really good. Too bad the match is so going to blow.

-Saddlebags.... Nice.

-Tomko is fucking charisma on wheels baby!!

-15 minutes in minus commercials and finally a damn match.

-Basham and Damaja vs. Kip James and Hoyt sucked. This whole angle does nothing for me.

-Nice promo from Samoa Joe.

-Have I mentioned Traci Brooks huge breasts lately?

-I love Homicide.

-Hector looks a lot like Eddie.

-Nice Scorpion Deathlock reversal by Joe.

-Joe beats Sting and a blah-ish match. The Sting/Daniels angle could be interesting now.

Time Goes By...

A pretty hectic and fun weekend. Saturday afternoon we baked at Bens soccer tournament. It was pretty fun to watch and he scored a goal in the shootout which was pretty sweet for him and his family.

I finally got my hands on the GFA M*A*S*H DVD set, watched the first disc, some pretty cool extras and hidden gems. Looking forward to watching Kevin Smith: Evening Harder and Ramones Raw.

Finished watching last weeks Raw, now I have to go through 2 weeks of iMPACT! and tommorow I should be getting the One Night Stand PPV and SNME. With the other new dvd's that come out next week I'm never going to catch up...

Saturday night was the Police concert at Commonwealth. We couldn't seem to find the Best Buy VIP area but it didn't matter, the whole night was awesome. Fictionplane were really good, wasn't sure what to expect from them and I was pleasantly surprised. Sloan were awesome as usual. I was concerned a little as last time I saw them in a stadium setting the crowd was less then responsive but it was a fesitval and the crowd was full of lemon-throwing douchebags. They came off really well. The Police were awesome, I was very impressed. The high point for the audience seemed to be "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" but the highlight for me was "Can't Stand Losing You" although it got a little 'jammy' at points. It was pretty sweet.

Sunday was inventory full count. 14 hours but I'll make some sweet cash. Too bad I missed Bens birthday.

I just turned on TBS and Diffren't Strokes is on, haven't seen that shit in years.

BBB's Notebook: WWE Raw 05/28/07

-I don't know who half these broads are in the summer beach whatever-the-fuck-match.

-Michelle McCool wins it, and I have to be honest, it was kinda hot.

-Fruity delicious fruity fruity skittles!

-A tri branded WWE draft. Oh man, ECW is gonna suck.

-Man, Shanes promo lacked a lot of steam.

-The 8-man tag was good.

-Holy fuck Cena, stop talking......

-Small TNA chant for RVD.

-RVD and Orton was terrible!

-Nice to see the Nature Boy tagging with his sons ex-girlfriend.

-The kiss-cam? Good lord.....

-"Let's go Cena/Cena sucks!!" I feel like I'm watching TNA.

-Crowd is super hot for the main event.

Inventory

Man, how hard is it to burn a fucking dvd.... I keep having issued with the sound being out of sync with the picture and a zillion people have given me solutions and none of them work. Pissing me off because I have a bunch of stuff I want to burn but it's all fucked up.

I think they screwed up on my check too. Seems to be short a few bucks. Today isn't starting off well, hopefully it finishes better.
