Time Goes By...

A pretty hectic and fun weekend. Saturday afternoon we baked at Bens soccer tournament. It was pretty fun to watch and he scored a goal in the shootout which was pretty sweet for him and his family.

I finally got my hands on the GFA M*A*S*H DVD set, watched the first disc, some pretty cool extras and hidden gems. Looking forward to watching Kevin Smith: Evening Harder and Ramones Raw.

Finished watching last weeks Raw, now I have to go through 2 weeks of iMPACT! and tommorow I should be getting the One Night Stand PPV and SNME. With the other new dvd's that come out next week I'm never going to catch up...

Saturday night was the Police concert at Commonwealth. We couldn't seem to find the Best Buy VIP area but it didn't matter, the whole night was awesome. Fictionplane were really good, wasn't sure what to expect from them and I was pleasantly surprised. Sloan were awesome as usual. I was concerned a little as last time I saw them in a stadium setting the crowd was less then responsive but it was a fesitval and the crowd was full of lemon-throwing douchebags. They came off really well. The Police were awesome, I was very impressed. The high point for the audience seemed to be "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" but the highlight for me was "Can't Stand Losing You" although it got a little 'jammy' at points. It was pretty sweet.

Sunday was inventory full count. 14 hours but I'll make some sweet cash. Too bad I missed Bens birthday.

I just turned on TBS and Diffren't Strokes is on, haven't seen that shit in years.

BBB's Notebook: WWE Raw 05/28/07

-I don't know who half these broads are in the summer beach whatever-the-fuck-match.

-Michelle McCool wins it, and I have to be honest, it was kinda hot.

-Fruity delicious fruity fruity skittles!

-A tri branded WWE draft. Oh man, ECW is gonna suck.

-Man, Shanes promo lacked a lot of steam.

-The 8-man tag was good.

-Holy fuck Cena, stop talking......

-Small TNA chant for RVD.

-RVD and Orton was terrible!

-Nice to see the Nature Boy tagging with his sons ex-girlfriend.

-The kiss-cam? Good lord.....

-"Let's go Cena/Cena sucks!!" I feel like I'm watching TNA.

-Crowd is super hot for the main event.

No!

Man, how hard is it to burn a fucking dvd.... I keep having issued with the sound being out of sync with the picture and a zillion people have given me solutions and none of them work. Pissing me off because I have a bunch of stuff I want to burn but it's all fucked up.

I think they screwed up on my check too. Seems to be short a few bucks. Today isn't starting off well, hopefully it finishes better.

Yes!

I won tickets to The Police! Saturday night shall be awesome. Sloan are opening so all is right with the world.

This morning I saw a guy get his head stuck in an elephants ass on Worlds Most Amazing Home Videos. They said it was a "horrific ordeal" but I thought it was a fucking riot

The toilets at work are continually flushing. I'm worries I'm going to get sucked in.

The Jays took 2 of 3 from the Yankees. Not too bad.

Wow

Fuck man, I gotta clean my place up....

BBB's Notebook: ECW 05/22/07

-Snitsky continues to mow through the competition. Poor Tommy is almost at jobber status.

-Thorn made short work of his jobber. Looks like a bit of a push is coming his way.

-Matt Striker and Bret Majors was a good little match. I don't know much about these Majors bros. Grizz?

-Cor Von's music doesn't suit him at all. Sounds like Was Not Was.....

-Main event was pretty good. Cool to see Punk and RVD team up. I still don't like Marcus Cor Von or Monty Brown or whatever the fuck his name is this week.

Quote of the Day

Whoo Hoo Fuckers!

So we went into the drive-through at McD's and after we ordered we decided we wanted Tacos instead. So when it was our turn to pick up our food, Chantal just drove right through with a huge grin on her face like she was Bonnie and Clyde and had just committed the fucking crime of the century.

Too funny.

What?

Something about Green Day singing "Working Class Hero" by John Lennon on American Idol is so unwholesome and wrong that I feel ill.

Green Day are the new U2, and I don't mean that in a good way.

BBB's Notebook: WWE Royal Rumble 1989

-I love the old school event openings. I haven't seen some of this shit in years.

-Live at The Summit in Houston Texas. Gorilla and Jesse the Body are your hosts.

-The Hacksaw Jim Duggan foam 2x4's were selling like hotcakes. Come to think of it, I think I had one........

-The opening 6 man of The Rogeaus and Dino Bravo vs. The Hart Foundation and Jim Duggan was a fun little match.

-Dibiase doesn't seem happy with the number he drew for the Rumble, but its "Good news for Bad News."

-The Warrior/Rude posedown is boring me.

-Rockin' Robin vs. Judy Martin sucked and Sherri was brutal on commentary.

-Loved the jobbers carrying King Haku to the ring.

-Ax and Smash drew #'s 1 and 2. Nice touch.

-"Rugged" Ronnie Garvin. There's a blast from the past.

-Outlaw Ron Bass. Awesome.

-Andre eliminates himself running from Damien. Crowd pops.

-Hogan eliminated Savage! The Mega-Powers explode!!

-The Red Rooster got zero pop. Poor Terry.

-Big Jon Studd wins the 1989 Royal Rumble. Not everyone has a price Mua ha ha haaa!

Notes

-Jordin Sparks did a good job of acting surprised when she won American Idol last night.

-Artie announced he is leaving the Stern Show in January. Robin was acting like a annoying cunt.

-I sat on my Judgement Day dvd and broke it. It had the best menu ever too....

-Tommorow is the Bad News Allen show in Cochrane and I am very excited.

Weird.

Some dude just came in to my store, used our bathroom and then asked how to get to Saskatoon.

Odd.

WrestleMania Box Set

So last night I finally finished the WrestleMaia box set. I took me almost a year and a half to finish it but it was a lot of fun. 3 will always be my favorite followed by X7, however WrestleMania XIX was a hidden gem. Lots of good stuff on that one as well.

Anyway, bring on the Royal Rumble!

Smashing Pumpkins - Tarantula

I made this because I'm awesome and I wanted folks to hear the new song and leave comments. You're welcome.

Excited

Dig it.

EDIT: I posted this right before I left for work this morning so I didn't have a chance to weigh in. This song make me all warm and it feels like home. The record has been pushed back to July 10.

BBB's Notebook: WrestleMania XX - Goldberg vs. Lesnar

I was worried WWE would clip all the goodness from this match on the box set but the greatness is there in its entirety.

All the good shit from the crowd, the reluctant lock up and everything in between.

Fucking sweet.

BBB's Notebook: ECW on Global 05/17/07

-I enjoy the recap of all the stuff on Raw that pertains to ECW because I don't always catch Raw. But why not do all that stuff on the ECW program?

-They are using the Smackdown entrance this week. I hope they haven't given up on that small ECW entrance. I liked it because it was small and somewhat of a throwback to the old ECW. Not it just looks like Smackdown lite.

-I assume there will be a newly edited opening video that is RVD and Sabu-free.

-RVD gets killed by Snitsky in what is appearing to be his last match with WWECW. Pretty fuckin' symbolic if you ask me....

-How many times is poor Stevie gonna job to Punk?

-What the fuck is with "Nunzio?" Why ditch Little Guido?

-Seriously, can The Condemned just die?

-Man, Bobby can cut a promo like nobodys business!!

-Lashley is powerful and amazing. Not even the strength of 3 men can stop his path of destruction!!

BBB's Notebook: TNA iMPACT! replay 05/18/07

-The recap of the Sacrifice main event sure made it look good. The finish looked interesting as well.

-"TNA World Heavyweight Champion." That will take a little getting used to.

-Nice Paul Harvey referance by Tenay. Problem is, not many wrestling fans know who the fuck Paul Harvey is.

-I love Jim Cornette.

-Oh god, 5 qualifying matches for a King of the Mountain at Slammiversary. Why the fuck can't TNA do something simply...

-Jerry Lynn and Tiger Mask vs. Sabin and Shelley was good but short.

-Haven't seen Raven in action for a while. He's getting chunky.

-Eric Young is over. They did a good job on that one.

-The new TNA mascot Stomper?

-Rhino and Angle was nothing special.

-Oh yay! Rick Steiner is back.

Friday

Yesterday was a pretty fun day for me. Met Chantal and Laura downtown for lunch and decided to hang around downtown untill Chantal got off work.

I caught a matinee of "Hot Fuzz." It was good, not what I expected but I enjoyed it. I'll give the dvd another spin.

After the movie I sat at the bar at the Elephant and Castle and had a few beers while I waited for Chantal. She joined me and had a Baileys and coffee before we headed to dinner.

For dinner we headed to Jungle Jims on Bourbon Street at the mall. It was a cool little restaurant. Fun decor and the food was good and inexpensive.

After dinner we headed to the Comic Strip to catch Tony Rock. We didn't know he was playing when we decided to go so it was a special bonus. The first comic was awful, however the 2nd was very funny.

Tony Rock killed. He is the brother of Chris Rock so I was a little concerned about a lot of name dropping and the suck but he never mentioned his brother once and was hilarious.

After the comedy Chantal decided to surprise me with a nightcap and Saint Petes. We had a couple of drinks and caught 3 of the girls, it was pretty fun to go there with her.

Once we got back to her house, we.... Well, that's none of your damn business.

Anyway, it was an awesome day.

Chicken for Lunch

I was told it's the greatest place ever so I hauled my ass all the way downtown for lunch with Chantal.

It was ok, certainly nothing to write home about. Perhaps my pallette is unrefined.

Did I spell pallette right?

Dammit!

Sabu showed up at the Smackdown/ECW taping tonight several hours late and without his ring gear. He was then told to go home and immediately released. Sabu was originally scheduled to face Kevin Thorn on ECW On Sci-Fi tonight and plans had to be changed after he was sent home. The latest word is that after finding out that he was scheduled to lose to Thorn, he claimed he had a neck injury.

Some believe that Sabu showed up to the taping late on purpose, knowing he would be sent home, because he has not been happy with how he is being used. This is apparently not the first time he has shown up late and/or without his gear recently.

And...

Rob Van Dam's match with Snitsky on Tuesday could have very well been his last match ever in WWE. Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that RVD is officially done with World Wrestling Entertainment as of last Wednesday.

WWE felt that keeping RVD around and burying him on TV was not worth it and it was better to get him off TV as soon as possible. His contract wasn't going to expire until late June at the earliest, but WWE officials cut that short because RVD said he would not re-sign with them and they had nothing for him until then. Despite the early release, RVD has a no-compete clause, and thus he can't show up in TNA next week for instance.

He is expected to sign with TNA after a long deserved summer break. If and when he joins TNA, it will probably be in September at the earliest. TNA is trying to land a two hour slot for the fall season on Spike, so if they end up getting it, they'll probably hold him off for the two hour show's debut.

Fuck. I am very excited for the taping here in July because I wanted to see the originals.... And now my 2 favorites are gone. I can't say I'm surprised, It's shocking Sabu lasted this long. Oh well, hopefully Sandman and Tommy will make it to July. ( and Punk!)

Just Your Average Wednesday

-This morning was the Andy Dick roast on the Howard Stern show. Like all the roasts it was awesome with a few notable exceptions. Colin Quinn, who killed on the Artie Roast was disappointing and Benjy sucked as would be expected.

-Jerry Fallwell died. I hope he fucking rots. He was everything that's wrong with everything, with quotes such as:

And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way -- all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face and say, "You helped this happen."-- Rev Jerry Falwell, blaming civil libertarians, feminists, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, quoted from John F Harris, "God Gave US 'What We Deserve,' Falwell Says," The Washington Post (September 14, 2001)

I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!-- Rev Jerry Falwell, America Can Be Saved, 1979 pp. 52-53, from Albert J Menendez and Edd Doerr, The Great Quotations on Religious Freedom

If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being.-- Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

BBB's Notebook: TNA iMPACT! 05/10/07

-Homicide/DVon/Scott Steiner wasn't a bad match, there just wasn't much to make me care about it.

-Christy Hemme makes me hate wrestling.

-The Bashams attack!! Basham and Damager? Damaja? What's the deal?

-The Jarrett recap video was well done. They're doing a good job of hyping the ppv.

-I hate the Backlund deal.

-"No time for Sonjay..." Nice.

-Shelly/Sabin vs. Lethal/Dutt was good.

-The 3 way split screen interview was a little chaotic. I think it was by design but it still sucked.

-The main event 6 man was a lot of fun but the finish was cheap.

-Christian is a brilliant smug heel.

New Shit

I got offered a new position at work as the Media supervisor. Media is responsible for gaming, software, cd's and dvd's, phones and stuff like that. It's pretty scary as I've never run a sales department but it's pretty exciting. We'll see how it all works out.

I got a new blackberry which I am also excited about. I've wanted one of the new ones for a while and it basically just fell into my lap and it will cost me basically nothing when it's all said and done so that's pretty cool.

I feel like I'm gaining weight and I was worried that it was due to my addiction tot he Rockstar energy drink but Dustin said that isn't the case. I trust his diagnosis because it means I can keep drinking them.

Check out 3BTV, the video blog because there is a ton of cool shit on there.

Life and other such pleasantries....

I've sort-of been challenged to write some intricate details about my life... I don't really know what to put down. My life is pretty routine, get up, go to work, spend time with the family and try and squeeze in some sleep.

-I'm very excited about the weekend shows on the 25th and 26th. It's an honor to be on a show with that pool of talent and an even bigger honor to get to work with Abdullah the Butcher. A frightening honor.

-Roger Clemens gan go fuck his hat, he's really milking this retirement thing and I think he's a douchebag as is Barry Bonds. He can celebrate that record all he wants but he's a fucking juiced up pig and can also commence in the hat-fucking.

-Word is that RVD may be done with WWE after the One Night Stand show next month. I think when push comes to shove he will re-sign although RVD in TNA could be interesting.

-Trying to win Police tickets from work, crossing fingers.

-Another rousing T-ball game last night, anyone know who won?

-"Time of your life" by Green Day is a piece of shit, I don't care what anyone says.

-Word 'round the grapevine is that Spider-Man 3 is a huge let down. I'm sure I'll see it one day.

-Looking forward to checking out The Tears and Brett Andersons solo album.

-1 month 28 days 13 hours and 33 minutes until Zeitgeist. Please James, rejoin the band!

-Looking forward to the Office tommorow night, too bad I have to close.

This wasn't very intricate, I don't really get struck to write stuff often. I have a million opinions but they all fly out of my head when I sit down in front of a keyboard.

GFA

I'm holding a copy of the M*A*S*H Goodbye Farewell and Amen dvd and I am giddy with delight.

BBB's Notebook: WWE Backlash 2007

-Lance "don't call me Garrison" Cade is deceptively big and solid.

-Trevor Murdoch's Canadian Destroyer was not pretty.

-Melina and Mickie James was pretty good. Melina is improving nicely.

-Fuck I'm tired of hearing about The Condemned.

-Benoit and MVP was very good. I don't catch Smackdown very often so I don't see MVP all that often but he looked good on this night.

-Not even Bobby Lashley himself could withstand the McMahon onslaught. The mark in me died a little inside. Joey and Tazz did a really good job of selling Vince's win.

-Taker and Batista was plodding and deliberate and told the story well albeit a tad overbooked. The little explosion on the finish was TNA-like lame.

-Is it me or does Edge have a new tattoo ever week?

-Cena/Orton/Edge/Michaels was very very good. The finish was fucking brilliant.

Calgary

Went to Calgary Saturday night to see my sisters new baby, had a blast. Saturday my mom made ribs, we watched TNA and then Merv and I played some old school Sega Genesis. I beat him at baseballa nd we split 2 games of hockey.

Sunday we just kinda hung out and took the kids to Bowness Park to let them run off some energy. Then it was a turkey dinner and we headed home in time to catch the Amazing race finale and the SNL in the 90's show (which was awesome.) I was really surprised how many of the sketches that I remembered but we used to never miss it.

Oh That Warrior....

Warrior Warrior got into an incident with the Iron Sheik on Sunday at a sports convention in Edison, NJ. Both men were there signing autographs. When Warrior saw Sheik, he demanded that Sheik leave, saying that Sheik had talked badly about him in the past. Sheik got upset and acted as if he was going to go after Warrior, but Warrior called security and the situation was resolved.

Hulk Hogan and Bruno Sammartino were both also at the convention signing autographs. Warrior did not interact with Hogan, but did greet Sammartino. Credit: PWInsider.com

Please god, tell me there is footage of this... That guy is fuckin' nuts.

BBB's Notebook: TNA iMPACT! 04/19/07

-Jarrett had the crowds attention!

-Joe/Daniels/AJ/Rhino was very good.

-This whole Eric Young 'friend' angle is losing steam fast.

-Big Daddy Sonjay! Fuck that's funny.

-Crowd popped huge when Abyss laid out Mitchell.

-A barbed wire bat? TNA? It left quite the gash.

BBB's Notebook: TNA Lockdown 2007

Ok, let's get this potential shitfest underway.

TNA X Division Title Match: Chris Sabin vs. Black Machismo vs. Shark Boy vs. Alex Shelley vs Sonjay Dutt.

-Black Machismo is awesome. At least they can get some use out of the music they made for Savage.

-Loved Sabins flipping eye-poke.

-Shark Boy takes the early dirtnap.

-The Sabin Stomp? Yeesh.

-Sonjays out next after the Cradleshock.

-Shelleys gone after a Machismo elbow.

-Sabin wins, shitty finish. Good opener, nothing to write home about but it was fun.

-The "Team Cage" promo was too busy and annoying.

Petey Williams vs. Robert Roode.

-No "you fucked up" chants for blown spots. Interesting.

-Traci Brooks cups runneth over.

-Way to sell the hockey stick there Roode....

-Roode wins with a perfect-plex. Match was ok, never really grabbed me.

-Yikes, Rhino was seriously lacking some acting chops.

Gail Kim vs. Jackie Moore.

-Damn, Tenay is lucky.

-Took them a while to get into the cage.

-Nice missile dropkick by Kim.

-Nice dive off of (almost) the top of the cage by Kim. She totally overshot but it was ambitious.

-The ladies did a pretty decent job.

-Backlund annoys me.

Senshi vs. Austin Star - Referee Bob Backlund.

-Finally after 4 matches someone uses the damn cage. Isn't that the gimmick?

-Senshi wins with a rollup after Backlund shoved Star. Brutal finish to a somewhat bland match.

Blindfold Match: Chris Harris vs. James Storm.

-Holy fuck I'm having Jake Roberts/Rick Martel flashbacks and that's not a good thing.

-I concur with the 'we want wrestling' chant.

-Hood came off. 'Boring' chant. Usually I hate those but I can't hate that one.

-Jesus, who made these hoods?

-One superkick and mercifully its over. Man, that was terrible.

-This ultra-babyface Sting is annoying.

Jerry Lynn vs. Christopher Daniels.

-Daniels wins with the Last Rights. Again decent but nothong overly special.

-Holy fuck, shut up Konnan. What's a 'wilderbeast?'

Electrified Steel Cage - LAX vs. Team 3D.

-Electrify the steel cage! With a firehose!! What's with the blue light??

-The door isn't electrified... Then why use it!?!?

-The electrical hun is lame and annoying.

-Ha ha!!!! The electrified cage! The crowd shit all over it. Way to sell it D Von.....

-Hernandez climbs the cage? Who booked this??

-Fuck, its too bad the cage was so lame because the match wasn't bad.

Lethal Lockdown:Christian Cage/AJ Styles/Scott Steiner/Tomko/Abyss vs. Kurt Angle/Rhino/Sting/Samoa Joe/Jeff Jarrett.

-Steiner pulls out the Frankensteiner and the annoucers sell it like its the return of Jesus.

-The back fell off Jarretts guitar. Tee hee.

-Styles fall off the cage was impressive.

-The match was pretty fun, I have to admit I liked it a lot.

BBB's Notebook: ROH Final Battle 2004

-Trent Acid looks like a homeless guy.

-Punk rules on commentary.

-Deranged smoked Becky Bayless!

-I like John Walters. I know this event is a little dated but he was very good. What's he up to now.... Grizz?

-I didn't like the finish between Walters and Jimmy Rave.

-Corinos extra-long ring entrance is the funny the first time and fucking annoying the second.

-Punk and Corino bring the comedy.

-Danielson vs. Low Ki was awesome. They do a good job of making the Rotweilers look bad-ass.

-I didn't realize this was the show where Austin Aries beat Joe for the title. The match was awesome, the atmosphere was amazing, the crowd was red hot. Wow.

EDIT: You can watch the finish over at 3BTV.

Stuff

-The Flames can tie the series with a win at home tonight. They played well Tuesday and get me back excited about the series again after games 1 and 2 crushed my spirit. 7:30 tonight.

-Sanjaya got the punt on American Idol last night. Can't say I'm happy about it, it made a show that I probably wouldn't really get to attached to a lot of fun. I am now throwing my support behind Jordan Sparks, and I am also now a homo.

-"Thank god you're here" on NBC is a really funny new show. We watched it last night and got quite the chuckle out of it.

-A semi-big story in the wrestling world is the now-off Lawler vs. Hogan match in Memphis. Hogan wanted to prove he could draw without WWE, and WWE told Lawler he couldn't work the show. My opinion, Hogan is wrong. I had a big of a revelation watching disc 1 of the "XWF Lost Tapes." Off the top they had Mean Gene and Bobby Heenan and Roddy Piper but it just wasn't the same and I realized that in my opinion, the WWF name combined with those guys is what made that time so special. You can't really have one without the other and have it have that same feel.

-I don't really know what to say about the shootings at Virginia Tech. Sign of the times, nothing really suprises me anymore. The only surprising thing to me is that it doesn't happen every day.

Sadness

Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero

Picked it up yesterday, can't wait to give it a spin. The cool thing is, they made the disc heat-sensitive so after you play it or rip it on your PC, it changes color. So fucking cool.

Flames/Wings Game 1

Why would you run the goalie p, up 4-1 with a minute and a half to go? Kipper laid it on a little thick which I don't like but it was still bullshit.

Det 4 Cgy 0

This sucks.

It's Time.

The Flames march to the cup begins in mere moment. The game is on the webcam if you wanna have a look.

Mua Ha Ha Ha!!

Fuck you Scarnato! Sanjaya rides again!

Damn

The Sharks/Predators overtime is jumping!

BBB's Notebook: Ric Flair and the 4 Horsemen

Another stellar DVD release from WWE. The feature runs around 2 hours and 12 minutes and is packed with heaps of awesome old footage. I particularly enjoyed it because I've read about a lot of the stuff featured in wrestling magazines when I was a kid and now it's cool to see it finally.

The cover everything and have some cool stories.... The really dramatize the Arn/Sid stabbing. Paul Roma is gold and JR's subtle jab at TNA made me giggle. Haven't looked at the extras yet but I know they will be excellent.

A little video preview will be up on 3BTV soon.

Quote of the Day

"Boxes go in the compactor, Just like babies go in the trash" - Tyler Lewis.

Flames have more offensive prowess for post-season

CALGARY (CP) -- One year removed from being upset in the first round, the Calgary Flames enter the 2007 NHL playoffs a much different team.

They have a new head coach in Jim Playfair, they've improved up front with the additions of Alex Tanguay and Craig Conroy, the blue-line has been bolstered by the acquisition of Brad Stuart, and they're brandishing a much more potent offence.

Veteran Calgary centre Stephane Yelle says the Flames are a confident bunch headed into Thursday night's opening game at Joe Louis Arena against the top-seeded Detroit Red Wings.

"We know their style and we know how we need to play against them to be successful as we have been this year,' Yelle said.

Third last in the NHL in goals (218) last year and the only team in the bottom nine to qualify for the playoffs, Calgary scored 40 more goals this year, sixth best in the league. Of the playoff teams in the West, only Nashville (277) was more lethal.

"We do have more firepower this season and we know we can score more but when it comes to playoffs, you have to play solid `D' and that's where we've been inconsistent," Yelle said. "If we can take care of our own end, we'll get our chances and we've got the tools now to score the big goals.'

Another difference is Calgary enters this post-season back in the role of underdog having not clinched the eighth and final playoff spot in the West until the second-last day of the season.

Starting on the road is a familiar scenario. During their improbable Stanley Cup run in 2004, which ended in a Game 7 loss in Tampa Bay, Calgary was the underdog for the entire journey.

That spring, as red Flames jerseys sprung up across the country and The Red Mile forged its way onto the Canadian landscape, many suggested the Flames underdog status was a big part of their charm.

"Personally, I don't think the seeding really matters," Yelle said. "The eight teams that made the playoffs are good teams and any one of those teams could end up winning it.".

Last year, Calgary won the Northwest Division and as the third seed drew the upstart Anaheim Ducks in the opening round. With the glass slipper on the other foot, Calgary was bounced from the playoffs in seven games, a disappointing outcome that reminded fans once again of the playoff futility that has haunted the franchise since hoisting its only Stanley Cup in 1989.

The Flames' series victories in 2004 over Vancouver, Detroit, and San Jose remain the lone three series wins in the last 17 years.

Along with stars Jarome Iginla and Miikka Kiprusoff, two keys this year could be Conroy and Tanguay.

A central figure two springs earlier as Iginla's centre and one of the team's off-ice leaders, Conroy's upbeat demeanour was noticeably absent last year after he left signing a lucrative free agent deal with the Los Angeles Kings.

Flames general manager Darryl Sutter reacquired the fan favourite Jan. 29 in hopes that the 35-year-old could restore a sense of calm and looseness in the Flames room, deemed a missing ingredient last year.

"He's great in the room, a good leader and you can't have enough of those guys," Daymond Langkow. "He's got lot of experience, especially for this team from its run in 2004. He's good on face-offs, and works well obviously with Iggy and Tangs."

Tanguay, acquired last summer from Colorado in exchange for defenceman Jordan Leopold, has fit in equally well with Iginla rounding out the Flames top line. Much of Calgary's offensive improvement this year can be attributed to Tanguay's 59 assists and 81 points. Tanguay's play-making being something the team had been desperately lacking.

Having never missed the playoffs, Tanguay brings 83 games of post-season experience to the table including 18 goals, 32 assists, and a Stanley Cup ring with the Avalanche in 2001.

The biggest question is which Calgary Flames team will show up. Will it be the winners of six games in a row in a critical stretch at the end of March when their post-season aspirations were hanging in the balance, or will it be the team that limped into the playoffs losers of their last four.
"When we won those six straight, we were playing solid hockey, working hard, we were back to basics," Yelle said. "We got away from that the last three or four games and to be successful in the playoffs, we'll have to get back to it."

This will especially be the case against a hungry Detroit wanting to avoid seeing its post-season end in Alberta for a third season in a row.

Notes : Calgary's biggest concern health-wise is defenceman Robyn Regehr, who missed the final two games of the regular season with a lower body injury. "I'm feeling all right and my plan is to travel with the team to Detroit," Regehr said. He says the injury is not as severe as everyone first thought. His status is day-to-day. Neither Regehr or Jeff Friesen (torso) skated Thursday prior to the team's departure to Detroit....Game 1 goes Thursday at the Joe Louis Arena. Start time is 5 p.m. MT and the game is on CBC and The Fan 960 radio.

Ha Ha!!

They have the number to vote for Sanjaya on the PDT.... Fucking brilliant!!

BBB's Notebook: TNA iMPACT! 04/05/07

-Why the hell did Rhino run to the ring, just to run to the back again?

-Don West did a pretty good Heyman impression "Gore! Gore! Gore!"

-I dig Jim Cornette.

-Electrified Steel Cage? I'm intrguied as to how this will turn out.

-God, Angle looks like hell.

-Sonjay as Oz? Sweet.

-Backlund throwing in the towel, nice touch. Correct me if I'm wrong but is that not how the Iron Sheik won the WWF title from Backlund?

-Fuck, this Abyss/Sting thing is reaching levels of ultra-lame.

-A blindfold match? Yikes, horrible flashbacks of Jake and Martel.

Seriously!

Enough with the fucking snow already!

Good to have the Gold

Webcam

I have also brought back the live webcam. Not sure when it'll be on, I guess it's a crap shoot. http://bbboris.ww.com/

What's New

Been a while since a real update, here's what's going on.

-Bring on the Wings! I don't really like the schedule for the Flames... Game 1 is Thursday at 5 and game 2 is Sunday at 11 AM. Yuck.

-Word is there is going to be an "XPW One Night Stand." It's such a horrible fucking idea I can't wait to see what happens.

-PWA went well Saturday night, Half the tag team titles are now in my camp. Abdullah is next, god help us....

-Had a fun Easter weekend with the kids (for the most part) including:

Chocolate Fondu on Saturday night and...

Easter eggs on Saturday afternoon.

New Blog

So I have gone ahead and created the new video blog. Since I got my new PC I have been making heaps of videos but I haven't really been sharing them so I will on the new blog. http://3btv.blogspot.com/

Facebook

What the fuck is facebook and why is it everywhere all of a sudden?

Sanjaya Rides Again!

Sanjaya survived elimination last night despite Howard being on vacation this week. I wonder how out of hand this has gotten and if Howards "movement" is even what's keeping him in or if its the 13 year old girls or votefortheworst.com or whatever...

RIP Kurt

It was 13 years ago today Kurt Cobain took his own life with a self inflicted gunshot blow to the head.... Never forget where I was when I heard and I probably never will.
Cobain had a huge impact on a lot of people of my generation and I can't hear a Nirvana song without thinking of that day.

So I am concerned for Sanjayas future tonight. Howard is on vacation this week and with the leader not there to rally the troops, our cause may soon fall by the wayside....

BBB's Notebbok: WrestleMania X7

This one has a special feeling, with the huge crowd at the Astrodome.

-Nice. This is during the Lawler-less era as Paul Heyman is handling the color.

-Jericho and Regal was solid.

-The Right to Censor. Forgot all about them.....

-It was quite fun watching Kane, Big Show and Raven beat the shit out of each other in the bowels of the Astrodome.

-Angle and Benoit was excellent.

-The crowd was hot as fuck for Shane vs. Vince!

-The pop Linda got for standing up off that chair was ridiculous.

-TLC 2 was more spotty goodness.

-Iron Sheik wins the gimmick battle royal. Where's his title shot?? Cena vs. Sheik WrestleMania 24!!!

-Lemmy!

-'Taker and HHH was very good as well

-Austin and Rock was a good match but I didn't like the finish.

BBB's Notebook: ECW on Global 03/30/07

-I liked Burkes slam on RVD in the bridge spot.

-Van Dam and Burkes match was pretty solid.

-Kelly Kelly sucks at life.

-Crowd was dead as fuck for Snitsyky and Balls.

-Vince is good at cheap heat.... Its awesome. Vince was "partying down."

-Did Vince say "Count your lucky charms?"

-Main event 8 man was fun.

-The Hardys at the top of the ladder seemed odd and out of place. Why not feature Punk, being that it is his tv program....

BBB's Notebook: XPW Exit Sandman

Holy fuck, this is the worst show I have ever seen and I'm only 3 matches in. Sandmans "retirement" is the worst segment in wrestling history and I want to commit suicide.

Everytime Joey Styles says "XPW" it sounds like he wants to vomit...

Yesterday

It slipped my mind a little.... 20 years ago yesterday..... I was 10 years old, in the first row at the Saddledome watching WrestleMania 3 on closed circuit TV with my Dad.

March 29th 1987. Man, time flies. Here we are 20 years later and I have a little boy of my own, and its WrestleMania 23. I think that's why I'm a little extra specially excited for Sunday.

BBB's Notebook: WrestleMania 16 (AKA WrestleMania 2000)

-Ice T and the Godfather.... Good lord.... "Grab your bitches!" LoL

-D Lo and The Godfather vs. Bossman and Bull is killing my will to live. Was Bull Buchanen one of the Truth Commission? I don't remember. Grizz?

-Ahh back when Tazz was still over and had a chance to shine. Its cute.

-Tazz wins the Hardcore title!!

-Viscera wins the Hardcore title!!

-Funaki wins the Hardcore title!!

-Rodney wins the Hardcore title!!

-Joey Abs wins the Hardcore title!!

-Thrasher wins the Hardcore title!!

-Pete Gas wins the Hardcore title!!

-Tazz regains the Hardcore title!!

-Crash Holly regains the Hardcore title!!

-Hardcore Holly wins the Hardcore title and the (shitty but not totally without merit) hardcore battle royal.

-Now that I think back, this was the WrestleMania All Day pay per view. I remember it well.

-Head Cheese.... Sigh.

-JR having microphone problems is too funny. Surprised they didn't edit that out.

-T & A vs. Head Cheese was surprsingly good.

-The Kat and Mae Young. Booty and the beast.

-Bubba Ray Dudley was still trying to run with the Southern accent.

-The ladder match was full of spotty goodness.

-The Kat vs. Teri was dreadful. Thank god it was short.

-Eddies first WrestleMania....

-Kurt Angles first WrestleMania as well.

-I may be incorrect but this may have been Jericho and Benoits first WrestleMania as well. Grizz?

-Benoit/Jericho/Angle was excellent.

-X Pac Sucks! X Pac Sucks! X Pac Sucks!

-Oh Pete... You are incorrigable.

-The 4 way main was really good (Rock/Foley/HHH/Show). The Rock is one of the best "late kick-outers."

-Ah the Infamous Foley short-jump to the table.

A pretty enjoyable and solid show.
